Spirituality in the era of AI
AI bends the arc of progress into a much steeper curve. An accelerated a/descent to our collective futurist imagination. The lighthouse in tomorrow’s tomorrow that novelists, screenwriters, directors, designers—artists—crafted for us, from us.
What were they channeling in those creations?
AI is one step, from one sect, in humanity’s pursuit of this imagined future. A future effortlessly lived into our hundreds, (em)powered by clean energy, sustainable resources, and a near-infinite array of intelligent collaborators. A future where technology is as natural and integrated as the earthly elements. We seem to breathe it in and breathe it out.
What other visions do these worlds hold?
They hold stories of people. People who step into their divine destiny, realize their cosmic purpose. People who yield the force, bend space and time, channel, see, heal, unite.
They also steal, enslave, manipulate, and destroy—a history that seems to follow us.
As much as technology underpins our tomorrow, let’s not forget that the stories of the future we all fell in love with were about our humanity. About finally understanding our place in this Universe and its gifts of love, light, and liberation above all else. We must not lose sight of the big picture.
As someone who straddles two worlds—technology/science and embodiment/spirituality—I still hold hope for an integrated future that benefits us all.
But it cannot be a passive hope. We have lots to heal within ourselves before we earn the right to yield this kind of power.
Our branches of Life are rot with a disease of our own making. A chronic illness born from centuries of ignoring and suppressing our collective symptoms of imbalance. Of confusing poison for medication.
We must get back to the root of what it means to be human. Prune that which no longer serves before unfurling new leaves of conscious creation.
This is work for all of us, but especially for those of us in positions of power who create and regulate the systems and technology that determine our future.
Our work is to return to our inner Nature. The quiet voice within that carries the wisdom of all generations and experimentations of Life here on Earth. The flashes and feelings of inspiration and intuition that we can’t ever claim to fully own. Our individual and collective Soul.
Therein lies the antidote—technology’s counterbalancing weight on this see-saw of existence.
The only constant of this world is change. We know this. But when we clear enough space to hear and feel into that thing, the sum greater than our parts, we increase our resiliency to change and put ourselves on a path towards a future that is truly of service to us all.
It is simply in our Nature to thrive.
