Death has been on my mind
Death has been on my mind recently. Not the big looming kind—the little “d” kind. The inevitable shedding of ideas and identity when Life brings forth a new season of self, kind.
I’m emerging now from a season of rest. Of stepping back into my body to tether my mind and revitalize my spirit. Of getting lost in the mystic poetry of fungi and lichens, Nhat Hanh and Rumi. Of clearing space in my home for love to bring me more music and laughter—a summer of sweet simple days.
Drawing back my senses, I found these questions nestled into the corners of my mind.
Who would I be—what would I create—without the performance and the praise?
If I stopped limiting it with fear, where could this endlessly creative and experimental energy that exists within me and in all other manifestations of Nature take me?
What would happen if I surrendered to a little undoing?
These are questions I’m still contending with, gently folding them into the pages of my journal and carrying them with me into fall.
As we make our migration from light to dark, the season encourages us to come back to our usual rhythms and routines.
Every autumn, the trees come undone, gracefully enduring a hundred little deaths. They slowly call back their energy to their core, reminding us of the many brilliant and beautiful hues of decay. Wrapped in the fertile embrace of fungal partners, they remain rooted to the earth, fortified against the quickening wind. This is our cue.
How can we harness the subtle, creative flow of fall without being swept away by the cold restless winds?
When we step back into a rhythm with the seasons, we remember that our inner nature is the outer Nature. We create just a bit more space for this vast intelligence to lead, carried in on the quiet whispers of our intuition, helping us achieve a greater sense of balance and ease.
This season, LILI JADE’s focus will be Grounding. We’ll explore the rhythms and rituals that anchor us and empower us to tap into our innate creativity. We’ll reflect on which relationships nourish us and help us turn our faults into fertilizer. We’ll learn how to navigate the soft swirl to the ground with grace so that we may eventually blossom into stronger, more aligned versions of ourselves.
