1. Eat whatever the hell you want.
These yearly rituals are too special to worry about what we should or shouldn't be eating. Tuck away that list of dos and don’ts and enjoy the indulgences of the day. You deserve to be present in the joy of communion.

2. Sip on warm water between meals.

While delicious, these treats can be very heavy on our digestion. Do your gut a favor by sipping on warm water with lemon or herbal teas in between meals. Adding some fresh ginger can also help soothe the food baby feeling and boost your metabolism.

3. Find time for yourself.
No one knows how to trigger us better than our families. Carve out some time to come back to yourself and recommit to your boundaries. An intentional morning and/or evening routine is a good time to recenter as we can't always control what happens during the day.

4. Take a quick digestive walk.
After your Thanksgiving meal, go for a 10-15 minute walk around the neighborhood. This will help support your digestion, stabilize blood sugar levels, reduce any post-consumption inflammation, and refresh your mind. Make it a group activity or a solo trot.

5. Support indigenous communities.
While Thanksgiving has become a cherished tradition for some, it is also the National Day of Mourning for native peoples across the United States. Support your local indigenous communities by paying rent for the land you occupy (Seattle: https://lnkd.in/gsQP_FQh). It is possible to honor your family rituals while honoring the truth.
