6 questions to ask yourself for the Summer to Fall transition
This week begins the Summer to Fall ṛtushandi—the two-week transitional period between seasons.
When we study Ayurveda, we ground ourselves in the awareness that we are not separate from Nature. We are yet another brilliant and highly complex expression of Nature.
Nature moves slowly, intentionally. As we approach the Fall Equinox on September 22, the days will gradually get shorter, the temperature inching its way down and the leaves slowly being drained of their color.
We too are moving through this seasonal transition, whether we acknowledge it or not. But our social conditioning is to change quickly—to wake up one day and decide to eat better, move better, or work harder. That is simply not the way Nature does it.
The ritual of rtushandi gives us an opportunity to ease our mind and our bodies into a new season with grace and intention, just as Nature does.
Here are six reflections and intentions for the Fall:
What intensity of Summer do I need to release to welcome in the subtle flow of Fall?
How can I honor the relationships that nourish and ground me the most?
Which daily, weekly, or seasonal routines can I turn into rituals?
If/when I feel the destabilizing swirl, how will I come back to myself?
How do I feed my creative spirit this season?
Which communities can I better serve with my time, talent, or resources?
